What Makes Macquarie Physiotherapy Great?

Well established practice

Having been in business for over 30 years, we have met a lot of people and formed several close working relationships. Being on good terms with various neurosurgeons and orthopaedic specialists means we can help coordinate timely appointments when required. We can also help with guidance when it comes to other Allied Health Professionals such as podiatrists and dieticians (we even have a dietician who consults rents and consults from one of our rooms at Glendale).

Hour long initial consultations

Many practices in the Newcastle region work on 30-minute consultations. When you come to Macquarie Physiotherapy for the first time make sure you allow for an hour-long appointment. We pride ourselves on treating the source of the problem, not just the symptoms. Because of this, we make sure we have plenty of time to do a thorough assessment so that we can get to the bottom of things. But what’s the point of having the answer if you’re not then going to do something about it? Fortunately, the hour-long appointment still allows plenty of time to begin treatment and get things moving in the right direction!

Manual therapy

At times it can be a bit deflating when you ask for help only to be given a sheet of paper with some exercises printed on it. Now don’t get us wrong! We strongly believe in the benefits of exercises as part of a rehabilitation program however, sometimes you need a little bit of help along the way. Because we want to get you better as soon as we can, our physiotherapists take a hands-on approach to facilitate the recovery process.

Three great locations

Whoever said three’s a crowd obviously wasn’t in pain. Having three practices throughout the Newcastle region, Macquarie Physiotherapy can offer flexible appointment options to make sure your rehabilitation process goes smoothly. The fact that they all have off street parking is just a bonus!

Dedicated Gym

Adjacent to our Gateshead practice is our fully equipped gym! This is a truly unique service we can offer which allows the final touches of your rehabilitation to be completed in a supervised and supportive environment. We also run our Exercise Right for Active Ageing classes in the gym which are designed for people over 65 years of age who are looking to improve their quality of life and overall health.

Multidisciplinary Team

A fully equipped gym needs to have a fully equipped team to support it, and we have just that! As you move through our gym you will come to meet our Accredited Exercises Physiologists (that’s right, we have two!), our level 3 Strength and Conditioning coach (he also happens to be one of our accredited exercise physiologists), our Accredited Exercise Scientist (who is also studying to become an accredited exercise physiologist) and our experienced exercise professional.

Massage

If everything above wasn’t enough, we also have a qualified massage therapist with appointments available for booking on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.
